The end of another year… and new beginnings

Here it is the end of 2021, a time of world upheaval, a time of supporting those close and afar through an ongoing pandemic. This past year I have coped by trying to appreciate at least one thing every day, while also allowing myself times of feeling down, not trying to ever be the cheerleader that I am expected/known to be, and also, and very importantly, immersing myself in the work of creating art.

Taking a leap of faith, I rented studio space at Art Alchemy East, a phenomenal working environment with four other amazing artists. I just started renting this space in November and can already see the benefits of focused work and sharing ideas with others. I have had more commissions, always loving the challenge that each brings. One in particular stands out (ie my most recent). Based on a photograph of grandsons, I was asked to create a collage/painting interpretation. This became quite collaborative in that my client provided images (cartoon and otherwise) of the things that resonated with these kids…the “essence of childhood”. I loved working on this piece as it was so personalized. I look forward to doing more of the same, as it speaks to my desire to connect with individuals on a deeper, personal level, and create work that is meaningful.

Thanks for checking in; I wish you all the best for a healthy, happy, creative year ahead…2022 here we come!!!
